Our May meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments in room 101 at the Casa del Prado. There will be a Little Rose Show, so bring your best roses to exhibit in this fun show. There will also be a Consulting Rosarian’s Corner, plus a Rose Auction and a Raffle. Our speaker will begin her presentation at 7:00 p.m. We are happy to welcome Master Rosarian Ruth Tiffany as our speaker this month. Here are a few words from Ruth about her program.
“Rose Gardeners are regular gardeners first and then for some reason become focused (often obsessed) with America's national flower. How do we become gardeners and not, say, watercolor artists, quilt makers, glass blowers, furniture builders, tennis buffs—-etc ?? Do you think of gardening as work? Or does it have other meanings for you? Where do old rose growers go? What is different about gardening in 2026 for you (and me)? Should we learn to 'rain dance'? Will insurance pay if one falls into a rose bush and is consumed?
At our meeting in May, we will be examining these vital issues and many more related to roses. I hope to have a surprise guest speaker. If he is able to attend, we will explore deeply the topics of Rose Gardening for the Health of it! Or Why Old Rose Gardeners Never Really Die!!”
