2025 Rose Pilgrimage
COME WITH US FOR THE 2025
DICK & SUE STREEPER ROSE PILGRIMAGE!
Saturday, OCTOBER 11, 2025 7:00 am to 9:00 pm
Here’s the plan for this SDRS tradition, it will be a day of fun, friends and roses to cherish!
Our Sun Diego charter bus loads from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Due to the ongoing policy changes to the city's policy for paid parking in Balboa Park we may have to change our pickup location from the Inspiration Point parking lot to an alternative site which is still to be determined. Pilgrimage attendees will be kept apprised of the changes to the pickup and drop off location via email. We will leave promptly at 7:30 a.m.
Our first stop will be The Market Place in Tustin, 13380 Jamboree Rd, Irvine about 9 a.m. We will stop there again about 7-7:30 p.m. on our return to drop off attendees and make a fast-food stop.
The bus ride will feature two “CR Corner on Wheels” sessions, one about What to do in the Garden in October, and one about Spraying. There will be lots of opportunities for all your rose questions. There will be other engaging bus conversation and activities as well!
We have a 56-passenger bus and are opening this pilgrimage to Del Mar, California Coastal, Temecula Valley, Orange County, & Pacific Rose Societies so get your registration in early.
Otto & Sons vast selection of roses is known throughout the region with over 130,000 plants and over 700 varieties each year. Everything from Floribunda and Grandiflora to Hybrid Tea and David Austin, they have something for every rose enthusiast.
We should arrive at Otto & Sons’ about 11:30, we anticipate a guided tour and then we can spend 3 hours in this amazing nursery & garden, adoring the roses we see and picking out the ones we want to take home with us at this 40% OFF ONCE A YEAR SALE.
There we will enjoy a box lunch from Urban Plates in a private picnic area. Please make your sandwich choice when you register. Options are: Turkey Avocado Club, Grilled Chicken, Grilled Steak and
Grilled Portobello Mushroom. If you register after the catering deadline, September 24, you’ll still get a sandwich, but cannot specific a choice. If you have special dietary needs, please register before the catering deadline and email us with specifics to sandiegorosesociety@gmail.com or reach out on our contact page.
After lunch we’ll be able to explore all that the Nursery has to offer including its two beautiful rose gardens until about 4:00 p.m., when we’ll be homeward bound, with return to our drop of our location around 9:00 p.m. The whole area under the bus will be available for roses, so we will see what we can fit. Due to space limitations on the bus, you should be able to buy 2 plants but please don’t purchase tree roses or large climbing roses. We are hoping we can work out shipping with the nursery so people can get more than 2 if they want.
The cost of this trip is $99 per person, which covers the bus ride, your OTTO & SONS guided tour and lunch, transportation for your new roses, snacks, drinks and movies on board. Adding to the value of this amazing time, the bus ride will feature a restroom! Reserve your place in the fun now! October 5th is the deadline for signing up!
